This is cool--my middle son wasn't feeling so good the other night and so my wife and I prayed with him of course. Before we did I got out my big 4-translation-in-one bible and looked up a couple of scriptures and had him read them. Put the word in his heart and on his lips--that kinda thing. He went to bed. About 3 AM he came into our room and woke us up--scared the poo out of us by the way. He was wide awake and wired and saying mommy (she's closer to the door)--I need help. She got up with him and he already had all the lights in the living room on and already had that big bible out on the couch. He said I need to find that verse--the one about the wounds--it was 1 Peter 2:24(NLT). She found it for him through half open eyes and he read it again and again. Then he looked up and simply said----"I believe that." She said that's good--and sent him back to bed. I thought it was super cool that he got up and had such a desire to read that verse and that he thought it was important enough to say and confirm that he believed it. His symptoms are very mild and I believe that his attitude and hunger have a lot to do with it. Basically he just can't go to school because he has a low grade fever--nothing else is really wrong.
Reminds me to be like that--Jesus talked about coming to him like a kid with childlike faith. When is the last time we said to someone about God's word--I believe that?
I encourage you to approach God with the same awe and amazement of a kid seeing his hero for the first time. Worship Him with the same passion that you did when you first got to know Him. Let's not be counted with those who have lost the love they had for Him at first. Let's be among the ones that read the Word and simply say thank you God--I believe that!
Keep the first thing first.
